Family Support will launch AlbyTV on Monday – an innovative service which brings children’s centre activities and support for overloaded parents and carers into living rooms via daily videos uploaded to Facebook.

The UK population is being requested to stay at home to the prevent spread of the coronavirus so Family Support is adapting the way in which it provides services to continue helping children in Hammersmith & Fulham build strong brains and resilience. It has created a virtual children's centre online which has home learning resources, a link to a telephone helpline and a schedule of virtual sessions available through AlbyTV - named after the company mascot - which provides parents and carers can tune with live-streamed or pre-recorded material.

Early years manager Rosemarie Alphonse said: “In difficult circumstances we must still be there to offer families the same support we always have - more people will be seeking support than ever and we cannot let them down. That means thinking creatively about how we can reach people who will need us. I’ve seen a lot of the content being produced and it is very exciting!”

Family Support is making this a serious project of innovation; bringing an editor on board to make sure that parents can reach engaging and well-constructed material as well as equipping children’s centre staff with lighting, microphone and tripods to film at home with.

There will be an activity session uploaded each morning, a story time in the evening and interactive Facebook live sessions streamed at 11am on a Tuesday and Thursday. Here for you, for them will stream their yoga sessions on a Friday and Young Mums Support Network will stream on a Wednesday morning.
