Helping children, young people and their families thrive

Meet our board

Andrew Pickup, Chairman

Andrew Pickup is Chairman of Family Support and brings significant experience leading growth businesses in the health and social care sector. Having previously worked at director level with organisations including Clinovia, Carewatch, Optalis and National Fostering, he has an appreciation of the careful balance required in developing and delivering high quality services in a regulated environment, whilst simultaneously ensuring financial sustainability and value for money.

His experience having lead the health and social care organisation Optalis from the time of its spinout as an LATC from Wokingham Borough Council, is particularly relevant in helping steer the direction of Family Support to similar success.

Andrew is married with three children and is passionate about giving all children similar life chances and sees Family Support as an important vehicle to do this.

Michele Barrett

Michele Barrett, MA

Michele is Executive Head Teacher at Vanessa Nursery and Randolph Beresford Early Years Centre.

Michele began her teaching career at Rowland Hill Nursery School in Haringey, then moved onto a deputy headship at Kate Greenaway in Islington, before coming to West London to become a head teacher.

She is currently Executive Head Teacher across two Outstanding settings. Working within such inclusive, forward thinking nursery schools has given her the opportunity to develop her knowledge about learning and young children. It also gives her the chance to learn from the children about inclusion and what that really means to families living with challenges.

Michele has almost twenty years' experience of children’s centres and also has a Master's degree in Education.
