Helping children, young people and their families thrive

Our story

We are here to help families in Hammersmith & Fulham thrive.

Our family centres are on hand so mums, dads, carers and children can make new friends and enjoy play and learning experiences together.

Loving, positive and nurturing relationships help children and young people develop the healthy brains they need for future life challenges.

And anything that gets in the way of these positive experiences can lead to toxic stress causing a child's healthy brain development to become impaired.

The good news is our brains aren't fully formed until around the age of 25, so there are plenty of opportunities to help young people develop the skills they need and to overcome the impact of earlier toxic stress.

Our family centres

Our family centres offer a range of experiences for families with children. These include learn and play sessions, baby massage, health visitor clinics, English language classes, sleep workshops and much more.

For older children and young people we offer access to youth provision and are here to help young carers. We also offer support to families who have special educational needs and disabilities.

All our experiences help to ensure that toxic stress is reduced for your child or young person and that they have the best start in life.

Here for families

Having children can be great fun but sometimes things can get hard and we are here for worries big and small. It could be dealing with problems at home with drugs or substance abuse, struggling to cope or feeling low. Perhaps you have housing problems or need help keeping the kids active or eating well.

We are here to provide quick and easy access to support and advice.

We help families thrive by building their confidence so that they can resolve issues before they become more difficult to manage. And that means we can help children and young people develop the resilient brains they need for future life challenges.

If you need help and advice, pop into one of our family centres, phone 020 8753 6070 or email contact@family-support.org.uk.

More about us

Founded on 1 April 2018 as an independent Local Authority Trading Company, Family Support was created to support all Hammersmith & Fulham families so they can access the right help and support faster.

We put children and families at the heart of everything we do.

Our values:

Helping children, young people and families thrive…it’s our CRAFT

Creativewe are innovative, ambitious and value the individual ideas and creativity of all our staff. We recognise the unique and individual nature of every family we work with and the need to tailor our approach for every person we work with. We will take note of evidence and research as to what works, stay up to date with new findings and solutions and always be prepared to implement the best.

As family life evolves in the UK and as families face ever-changing challenges, our creativity is key to helping them overcome those challenges. A one-size fits all approach to working with families has limits; for the people we want to help as well as our staff. Supporting a creative workforce, diverse of thought, is how we will improve outcomes for every family that come in contact with our organisation.

RespectfulEveryone that works with us will receive the same level of respect. Children, young people, families, staff and stakeholders will all know that they will be respected whenever they come in to contact with us. We will have a zero tolerance approach to anyone that does not show respect to our staff, clients or stakeholders and we will also work continuously to foster an environment where respect is pivotal.

AppreciativeWe know loving and supportive relationships with trusted adults supports the children and families we work with. The same is true for our staff too; we will always appreciate each other and the support we give each other and make sure everyone knows how valued they are.

Every family we work with will know we appreciate the time they spend with us and ever partner will know how much we value their work and support.

Flexible We recognise that to support families to their best potential our staff need to be able to support their own families. Our flexible approach to working means our staff work everyone and at different times during the week. Not only does this make our staff less overloaded and able to support families but it all fits families. With staff on hand earlier or later or on the weekend.

TrustingWe believe in everyone that works for Family Support and trust them to make decisions based on the evidence presented to them and research relating to brain story science. There aren’t multiple layers of red tape to get approval for simple decisions that we know experts in their field can make. We work with sensitive issues and information and will create trusting relationships with everyone who will know we can be relied upon to uphold confidentiality.
